A Democratic Cultural Landmark

Opening in Milan in autumn 2026, MA-g brings the avant-garde spirit into the fabric of everyday urban life — a counter-current project built to decentralize the city's cultural offering.

The former industrial hall on Via Piccinni, under renovation for the Museum's 2026 opening.

The Museum intends to reach beyond the traditional gallery-going audience, reflecting the anti-elitist spirit of the movements it holds in trust. Rather than a single, monumental building set apart from the city, MA-g is conceived as a network of repurposed public spaces — bringing rotating exhibitions, talks, music, and readings directly into the neighborhoods that surround it.

This is, in part, a practical response to how the historical avant-garde itself operated: in shared studios, small presses, and cafés rather than institutions. The Foundation's holdings — spanning rare editions, prints, and archival material from the early twentieth century through to a growing contemporary collection — exist to be encountered, not simply preserved.

"A museum that stays still is already behind the movements it claims to represent."
