Established as an Ente del Terzo Settore (ETS) under Italian law, the Foundation exists independently of any single donor or institution, funded through a combination of membership, private support, and revenue from the Awards programme. Its statute commits the organisation to public access, education, and the preservation of the avant-garde legacy for future study.
A small board of trustees, drawn from curatorial, academic, and legal backgrounds, oversees acquisitions, the Museum's programming, and the governance of the Awards jury each year. The Foundation also manages the archive underlying MA-g's digital collection — condition reports, provenance research, and rights clearance for every work that enters the collection.
